

Laura Prokopyk, Violinist Laura Prokopyk is the former Concertmaster of the award-winning Cleveland Chamber Symphony (CCS), a group dedicated to new music. As soloist with CCS, she has recorded Augusta Read Thomas' Spirit Musing, Robert Erickson's Garden, Erica Muhl's Consolation, and has premiered many other works. Laura has performed much of the traditional chamber music literature on both violin and viola, was a chamber music coach at ENCORE for seventeen years, a memeber of the Trinity Chamber Players and Chamber Orchestra in Cleveland, a frequent performer in the New Music Associates series at Cleveland State University and a founding memeber of the Pensacola (FL) Chamber Music Festival. In 2002 she taught at the Erie (PA) Youth Symphony Festival and in 2004 she was guest artist faculty at the Las Vegas Music Festival. Chamber recordings include Edwin London's Gypsy Heirs with Mark George, piano, Music for Harp and Strings by Michael Leese, Sextet by Nicholas Underhill and Staring at the Sun, string quartet for rock guitar virtuoso Neal Zaza. Studies were with Linda Cerone at the Meadowmount School of Music and the Cleveland Institute of Music where she earned Bachelor and Master degrees in performance. Other teachers include David Cerone, violin and Josef Gingold, Jascha Brodsky and Bernhard Goldschmidt, chamber music. For the past two seasons, Laura has served as Concertmaster for the Bismarck-Mandan Symphony. She also enjoys teaching beginning string students in the Bismarck Public Schools.
