

Dr. Erik Anderson, Assistant Professor of Cello and Bass Studies at Minot State University, Anderson is a native of Washington State and began his cello studies at the age of three. He earned his B.M. and M.M. from the University of Idaho, and completed his D.M.A. at the University of Cincinnati, College Conservatory of Music. During his professional performing career, Anderson has served as Associate Principal Cellist for the Cincinnati Ballet Orchestra and the Richmond (IN.) Symphony, where he also held the position of Assistant Conductor, and has also performed with the Cincinnati Symphony, Opera, and Pops. He has also been active as a chamber musician and recitalist, and has performed on several CD recordings. He has worked extensively as a free-lance cellist, performing in a wide variety of styles, and has backed up such acts as Donny Osmond, Anne Murray, and Three-Dog Night. Anderson is particularly interested in new music, and has given more than a dozen world premieres of both chamber and solo repertoire. He has collaborated with such living composers as George Crumb, Milton Babbitt, and Steve Reich and is committed to ensuring the future of classical music.
