Dr. Dianna Anderson earned her BM from the University of Idaho while completing her MM and DMA at the University of Cincinnati-College-Conservatory of Music. Originally from Ekalaka, Montana, Dr. Anderson began music study with her mother at the age of four. Her primary teachers include Janeen Larsen (Black Hills State University), Jay Mauchley (University of Idaho) and Frank Weinstock (UC-CCM). Her solo repertoire ranges from Bach to Barber with a special affinity for the music of Beethoven, Debussy, and Ravel. She has performed as soloist with orchestras in Washington, Idaho, and Montana. She studied chamber music with Lee Fiser, Yehuda Hanani, and Sandra Rivers; vocal accompanying with Kenneth Griffiths, and has performed many standard works from the chamber and vocal repertoire. In addition to performing with Luminus, she performs frequently as a soloist and as a collaborative pianist. Dr. Anderson is especially interested in promoting the art of chamber music to young people throughout the Plains region. Other areas of interest are the application of theory to performance, performance of new music, and works by female composers. Along with her teaching duties at Minot State University, she maintains a studio of private piano students. She is on faculty at Dakota Chamber Music and International Music Camp, and is the rehearsal accompanist for Western Plains Opera Company.
